    District Attorney

District Attorney: Joe Rubio
Justice Center, 4th Flr. Suite 401
(956) 523-4900

The role of the district attorney is not to convict, but to ensure that justice prevails. District Attorney Jose M. Rubio and a team of 11 assistant district attorneys prosecute all felony cases at the district court level in Webb and Zapata counties. They also handle cases assigned to the County Courts at Law.

The majority of cases prosecuted are drug-related. Three attorneys are assigned to the Drug Impact Court and five investigators work with the Laredo narcotics task force.

All criminal complaints received by the district attorney's office are researched by seven investigators.

The rapidly growing department has sections dealing with hot check collections, family violence cases and is responsible for criminal child support and abandonment cases referred by the State Attorney General.
