Constitutional authority includes representing the State of Texas where the State is a party.
Statutory authority and duties are numerous and are scattered over several volumes of laws. The primary statutory duties of the Webb County Attorney include the prosecution of juveniles, the representation of the State of Texas in involuntary commitments, and representation of the Texas Department of Protective and Regulatory Services in child cases involving abuse and neglect. Other statutory duties include the investigation and prosecution of election violations, certain subdivision and environmental violations, and the representation of county officials and employees in litigation, where appropriate.
The Webb County Attorney has agreed to represent the County of Webb in civil actions. Also, the Webb County Attorney advises the Webb County Commissioners Court and the Administrative Boards of Judges, their committees and boards, as requested and as needed.
