On October 11, 2007, the Webb County Medical Examiner hosted a three day “Scatter School” designed to teach law enforcement and other agencies the techniques to search for and identify human remains. The school was attended by law enforcement officers, death investigators, attorneys, game wardens, funeral home personnel and others representing over fifteen agencies around the state. The school consisted of classroom lectures and a field exercise taught by renowned professors in forensic anthropology, forensic odontology, DNA and death investigation. The office looks forward to hosting many of these schools in the future.
