The Laredo Development Foundation (LDF) is known for helping the Laredo area strive toward business development.  Commissioner Jerry Garza was invited to be the guest speaker at the monthly LDF membership meeting where he spoke to local business leaders on crucial projects to the area, including: the 5th bridge, the 311 information hotline and Webb County’s continued search on the secondary water source.

In early January 2007, Commissioner Garza received a call about a family living in horrid conditions in central Laredo . After visiting the family of six, Garza and others helped transport them immediately to a local hotel. The family has been transitioned to an affordable house in central Laredo.

Several families living in Precinct 3 received an invitation from Commissioner Jerry Garza to the Buenos Aires Community Center . When they arrived there was a surprise in store: shoe-box gifts and a well-stuffed food bag in time for the 2007 Christmas holiday.

More than 30 children from the local Springfield Headstart receive their first-ever bicycle. Children smiled as they rode their bikes in front of proud parents and Commissioner Garza

On this date, Commissioner Garza announced that Webb County constituents will now be able to pay their traffic tickets via the Internet. Tickets from the Sheriff's, DPS, and Constable are the only ones that can be paid using this. Judge Oscar Martinez was also instrumental in this electronic project.

Buenos Aires Community Center Ground Breaking Ceremony – October 24, 2006

Over 80 members of the local community joined Commissioner Pct. 3 Jerry Garza as he announces plans for the new $500,000 4,000 sq. ft. facility to be located in central Laredo . It is expected to be completed by mid-2007.

“Precinct 3 Commissioner Jerry Garza, Risk Management Staff and County employees kick-off the 13 th annual Webb County Health Fair Wednesday, June 14 th 2006. Over 600 employees learned ways on looking and feeling young.”

“Commissioners Jerry Garza and Frank Sciaraffa donated $25,000 to the Aztec District Boy Scouts. The official presentation of the first-ever mobile Rock Wall in South Texas was made on Tuesday, June 13 th 2006 at Camp Huisache . Over 1,000 boy scouts will benefit from this structure every year.”
