The Meals on Wheels Program

The Meals on Wheels program has been dedicated to preparing and delivering nutritious meals to homebound, elderly and disabled individuals of our community for over 40 years. But that’s not all we deliver. We also provide friendly interaction and a connection to the outside world to our clients.
Meals on Wheels delivered more than 90,000 hot nutritious ready to eat meals to our seniors across Webb County. One of our goals is to ensure that our senior citizen and disabled adults are provided with nutritious meals and a friendly smile.
Eligibility Criteria
1. Meals on Wheels services the senior citizen of Webb County that are 65 years of age or older and people with disabilities.
2. Referral Process:
Applicants/clients apply for services by contacting a Community Care for Aged and disabled (CCAD) caseworker. The caseworker conducts a face-to-face interview to determine if an applicant meets eligibility criteria for the service. The caseworker may authorize services for up to one year.
3. Filling out application: Clients can contact the Meals on Wheels office and complete an application. The application is sent to HHSC office to determine if the applicant meets eligibility criteria for the service.

Routes

Currently, we have 6 fixed daily routes. Per day, 476 clients are being serviced, of which 55% are females and 45% males. The average age of our clients is 66 years old.
