Constables are a Law Enforcement Agency that deal with the following:

1. Court Issued documents, some examples: 

  • Citations-an official process by which a plaintiff gives a defendant notice of suit.
  • Forcible Entry & Detainer-provide a summary, speedy, simple and inexpensive remedy for determination of who is entitled to possession of real property and/or post due rent.
  • Writ of Possession-allows a landlord who prevails in an eviction suit to take possession of the premises that were in dispute.
  • Subpoenas-an order issued by the court.  It is a command to appear at a certain time and place to give testimony upon a certain matter.
  • Temporary Restraining Order-an emergency remedy of brief duration that may be issued only in exceptional circumstances and only until the trial court can hear arguments or evidence.

2. Justice of the Peace Courts

  • Our department services two Justice of the Peace.

      Precinct 1 Place 1-Honorable Judge Juan Paz
      Precinct 2 Place 2-Honorable Judge Oscar Liendo

3. Truancy Court 

    • Deputy Constables serve as Bailiffs for the Justice of the Peace Court proceedings.  Justice’s of the Peace hear testimony made by parents and children to determine the extent of punishment or fine when there is enough evidence to prove that the child has been absent (unexcused) for a significant number of times.

4. Traffic Violations 

    • Traffic citations are issued to violators of law, suspicious activity, controlled substances, and defective equipment.

5. Warrants 

    • Warrant is the general name given for this document.  Commands an officer to take a named defendant into custody.

6. Juvenile Justice Alternative Education Program 

    • Three of our Deputy Constables are placed at the Webb County Juvenile Justice Alternative Education Program.  Police officers of the alternative school maintain order at the school and perform daily routine pat downs of students, assist the Webb County Probation Department with random Drug Tests as well as detain/arrest school violators for behavioral issues and or Drug related incidents

7. Webb County Youth Village 

    • One of our deputy Constables is placed at the Webb County Juvenile Detention Center. Work involves monitoring and/or patrolling grounds; receive visitors, inspecting and safeguarding state and court buildings.
