What is VTP?

The Veterans Treatment Program (VTP) is a voluntary Three-Phased program which may encompass 13 months in duration. However, compliance with VTP and treatment may be mandatory for individuals who are currently on probation. Initial treatment may vary from inpatient to outpatient services, and will depend on the individual's most current clinical assessment. The participants could be eligible for financial assistance, including but not limited to mortgage, rent and /or utilities assistance.

Who is Eligible for VTP?

Assistance will be available to individuals who are detained for misdemeanors and/or felonies within the 8 county region.

•Be a resident of Dimmit, Jim Hogg, Jim Wells, Maverick, Starr, Valverde, Webb or Zapata counties.

•Have a pending misdemeanor or felony case in Dimmit, Jim Hogg, Jim Wells, Maverick, Starr, Valverde, Webb or Zapata counties.

•Have been assessed with alcohol, substance abuse, mental health, and/or psychological issues; and

•Not have any other disqualifying factor(s).


The District Attorney's office will review each case for final eligibility approval.
